I have a busy, busy, busy couple of months ahead of me. With that said I’ve been preparing by reading a copious amount of fiction.
I’m not going to say much besides Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff is a must-read if you’re into literary fiction and questioning everything you know about your loved ones. Five stars, truly an ace book.
But what am I busy with in the next couple months?
Well, first, I have plenty of big projects underway for customers. But that’s not unusual.
What is unusual is a big move! Well, a twenty-minute one, into Hamtramck (hopefully, if I can secure a place.) By this time next month I’ll be moved out of Canton after a year of living here, getting my feet wet as a full-time Michigander again.
Now, of all the times I have moved in my entire life, this will be the first fully-autonomous, clear-headed, and purposeful decision. Last year I needed to find a place relatively quickly, mostly because I was nervous about not finding one at all, and I ended up in Canton, which in retrospect, could’ve had more thought put into it.
After spending a full year driving to Hamtramck nearly every week to see friends, music, and generally live life with vigor, I decided to cut out the 40-minute middle-man of a drive and relocate there somewhat permanently. This should save money and make socializing at least a little cheaper at the ole gas pump.
List of Scottivities Currently Being Practiced
- Living healthier (or, at least, acknowledging my body’s need and positive reaction to decent nutrition and exercise)
- Way too many song videos on Facebook while I learn and practice different open tunings
- Listening to my favorite music from friends, including the illustrious Kubat, Finley, and Rose, Ryan Dillaha, Escaping Pavement, and Anthony Retka
- Writing jokes so I can go to a comedy open mic night soon and bomb for the first time
I’m on the cusp of something new, something I’ve built myself, and I’m excited to discover what the next stage will look like.
